Bonita Springs Elementary School

Title I School

The one-story portion of this brick school was built in 1921 as a three-room schoolhouse.

Life at the young school was quaint and fairly rural. Fencing was placed around the premises to keep out the free ranging cattle that roamed the area. Initially the school had no electricity but to the delight of the students, it did have indoor plumbing.

In 1927 the school expanded with the addition of a two-story building and auditorium. The separate structures were united in the early 1940's and as early as 1948 the school had a lunchroom with a kitchen. The current cafeteria/auditorium was added around 1964.

Academics

Student engagement leads to student success in the classroom. Our teachers ensure student participation using Kagan Structures, which increase student participation and hold all students accountable for their learning. Teachers differentiate their instruction in reading and math, to reach all students at their individual levels. Using the results from progress monitoring, lessons are designed according to what the students need. This leads to student growth in reading and math proficiency.

PBIS

We are a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support school. We teach and recognize positive behavior through the implementation of a data-driven, school-wide program. We provide a safe and supportive learning environment where students will practice school-wide expectations with teachers and staff serving as positive role models.

Community Partnership

We are fortunate to have partnerships with local churches, residential communities, businesses, and service organizations. Their generous donations provide school supplies and Christmas presents for students, meals and treats for staff, and educational presentations that our students would not experience otherwise. We are grateful to all of our community partners!
